Four

Banana Republic: shirt; Gap: cords; Blowfish: boots; Forever 21: necklace; handmade!: cardi

Here it is in all it's first-day of wear glory: my new cardigan! I made it so I could wear this outfit, pretty much. It's kind of lumberjack-ish, which I love. It's partly inspired by the idea of this pin. I wanted to mix in my khakis to give it a real try, but 15 slots fill up pretty fast!

The hair is pretty easy (and falling out as I type): make a ponytail, twist some random tendrils, pin them up around the elastic of the pony. Ta-da! I don't know if a) I don't know how to use a bobby pin correctly, b) I don't have the right bobby pins, or c) my hair just isn't grabby enough for bobby pins (which I would find hard to believe), but damn...they just don't like to stay in my head. Must investigate.

I think pretty much all of my remaining outfits involve this cardi, so sit back and enjoy the cabled goodness. :D

  2. I actually have a suggestion for the bobby pins because it sounds like we both have hair that cannot be contained. They make special (large) bobby pins designed for thick hair. They aren't as invisible as the smaller ones but they actually work for several styles.

  3. Your cardigan is awesome! I love it with gingham, too. I've got to get thru the sweaters in my knitting bag before winter is gone in Texas. Btw, I back comb the hair I'm going to pin a little before smoothing the visible part with a brush and it helps mine stay up- a trick I learned from Pinterest. But I have very thin, fine hair.

    1. Thanks! I love the mountainy feel the gingham lends the sweater. It must be hard to be a sweater knitter in Texas! Thanks for the tip. Pinterest is amazing! That actually might help because I feel like my hair is too silky (because of my awesome shampoo) for the pins to grab sometimes.

  4. lumberjack chic! i'm totally into it! anything with cables and plaid is A-plus work in my book!

something i only just learned (thank you pinterest) is that the wiggly side of the bobby pin goes under the hair, and the smooth side is supposed to be the more visible side. who knew?
