New Starts

I knew yesterday was Wednesday, but for some reason it didn't register with me as a blogging day! Weird. At least the extra day give me the opportunity to show you what I started last night and to get your opinion on it.

Firstly, I started my wedding dress! I'm angry with it and it's in time-out for a little while, but it has been started.

Secondly, I started a new sweater! It's Driftwood, but I'm doing raglan sleeves and using dk weight yarn, with some other modifications. As soon as I did the first pair of stripes, I was reminded of my April Showers hat. I'm afraid the green and grey are not distinct enough to be complimentary. John says it looks fine. It isn't as subtle as April showers, so I'm leaning towards continuing, but what do you think? Should I swap the green for a different color or keep going?

I have some buttons to sew on so I can bring you an FO tomorrow (and outfit 15 of 15 also)! I better get to it!

How's the weather in your neck of the woods? The rain and clouds here have made it easier to justify knitting inside all day. :)

  1. hooray for starting your dress!

i like the colors for your driftwood. it's a higher contrast than april showers, and i think it looks very wearable!

  2. Stripes stand out much better than colorwork. I think you're good (and I like Driftwood).

Why are you angry with your wedding dress? Is it asking for GITD beads? :)

    1. Thanks! LOL, I would probably like it better if it asked for GITD beads. :D

  3. I'm so excited to see your dress take shape! As for the driftwood, I'm not sure. Sometimes I really like subtle color changes, but that's usually for color blocking. If you were drawn to the Driftwood pattern because of the vivid stripes, I'd change one of the colors. If you mostly just like the style of it, leave it as is.

    1. I read this comment and I couldn't decide what it was I liked more about the pattern! I think it's more the style, but stripes are always a seller. :) My stripes are not quite as subtle as Marsa Alam, so I think I'll achieve both aspects. Thanks for the comments!

  4. Oh hey, I just saw Isabell Kraemer's Marsa Alam sweater and the stripes are very much like yours here. Check it out. It might give you an idea what to expect.
